RTO Compliance Requirements For Trainers & Assessors

RTO Compliance Requirements For Trainers & Assessors

This was a recent broadcast from ASQA regarding the requirements to upgrade TAE qualification.

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has been made aware that some registered training organisations (RTOs) are distributing marketing information by e-mail indicating that all trainers and assessors must ‘upgrade’ their qualifications in order to comply with the Standards for RTOs 2015 as a result of revised qualifications in the TAE Training and Assessment Training Package, including the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
This information is not correct.
While the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has recently made a recommendation to the COAG Industry and Skills Council that the changes to the TAE training package be applied to the existing VET workforce, no decision has been made on this matter and such a decision would require changes to the Standards for RTOs 2015. Should such a change be made, RTOs would be advised well in advance of any implementation and afforded ample time to meet the new requirements. For an RTO to market the revised Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116), it must first be registered to deliver this qualification. As at the date of this advice, there are no RTOs registered for this qualification, so no RTO is able to offer to provide the qualification.

Special Operations Group who specialise in RTO Consulting believe as we go through the changes within the Vet Sector we as Trainers will all await with some anxious concerns over the constant change this sector brings.

Like you we dont want to keep changing our TAE qualifications. There have been many upgrades having changed it from CAT II in the 80s and then the BSZ Cert IV and Dips then to change again to TAA04  14 Units and then back to TAE CERT IV 10 Units and again the requirements of LLN and Design Units. And now we wait to see what comes from the requirements of the new 2016 Package.

As you may be aware that the sector has some stringent requirements around any RTO making application for the new Qualifications or applying to continue to offer the new Qualifications 2016 Onwards.

We would like to ask you is it a good thing and is it needed? Feel free to leave your feedback and comments below.
